EL-26: Fire Ground Support (ELFS)
Minimum Age: 14 years of age
Prerequisites: None
Must be completed prior to NFPA 1010 Support Person certification exam and/or ELFF1 start date
• NIMS ICS-100: Introduction to the Incident Command System
• NIMS ICS-700: National Incident Management System (NIMS), An Introduction
• Hazardous Materials Awareness
• Traffic Incident Management (TIM)
• Enrollment into ACADIS platform & Campus Marketplace
Required Text:
• Fundamentals of Firefighter Skills (5th Ed.) – Jones & Bartlett
OR
• Fundamentals of Firefighter Support Person – Jones & Bartlett
Resource Materials Needed:
• Pennsylvania Edition Entry Level Fire Training Skills Book
Required Equipment:
• Computer with audio/video capability with Internet Access (if applicable)
• Pen/pencil or other appropriate note taking material
• Required textbook and skill book
• Full PPE ensemble (helmet, gloves, hood, coat, pants, boots, eye protection)
• Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA)
• 2 sections of rope (8’-10’) 1 section of webbing
Course Description
To prepare students with the essential knowledge, skills, and behaviors needed to begin a safe and productive
fire service career, while developing their ability to provide effective non-suppression support during emergency
operations. The course emphasizes the use of fundamental tools, safety standards, and operational practices that
enable personnel to assist firefighting teams through logistical, communication, and coordination tasks that
enhance overall incident effectiveness
