Prerequisites:
• PA Basic Boating Certificate or NASBLA Approved equivalent
• Water Rescue & Emergency Response (WRER) “PA Fish & Boat Commission”

Required Text:
• Emergency Boat Operations and Rescue Manual, PA Fish and Boat Commission

Required Equipment:
• U.S. Coast Guard approved type V personal flotation device (PFD), properly outfitted water rescue helmet, and 
proper PPE 
• Computer with audio/video capability with internet access

Course Description: Students will become proficient with boat operation skills, techniques and tactics necessary for boat used rescue. This 
16-hour program involves skills of boat operation for rescue including boat selection, recommended equipment, boat handling, boat used rescue technique, and extrication from the water.
