ELFF1 (Entry Level Firefighter I) – EL-26

FSC: 3471 - 88 Hours 

Minimum Age: 18 years of age (17 years of age for those who are eligible/qualify for ACT155)

Prerequisites: EL-26: Fire Ground Support (ELFS)
Must be completed prior to NFPA 1010 Firefighter 1 certification exam and/or ELFF2 start date

* CPR / First Aid

Required Text:
* Fundamentals of Firefighter Skills (5th Ed.) - Jones & Bartlett

Required Equipment:
* Computer with audio/video capability with Internet Access (if applicable)
* Pen/pencil or other appropriate note taking material
* Required textbook and skill book
* Full PPE ensemble (helmet, gloves, hood, coat, pants, boots, eye protection)
* Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA)
* 2 sections of rope (8'-10') 1 section of webbing
 

Course Description
This program builds on the foundational skills learned in ELFS and prepares students for Firefighter I certification in accordance with NFPA 1001: Standard for Firefighter Professional Qualifications. Students will receive instruction and practice across a broad range of fireground functions. Topics include the safe use self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA); ground ladder operations for access, rescue, and ventilation; and an understanding of building construction as it relates to fire behavior and structural collapse. Training also covers forcible entry techniques, coordinated ventilation, search and rescue procedures, and hoseline deployment for fire attack. Students apply suppression tactics in both interior and exterior scenarios, develop firefighter survival techniques for emergency situations, and learn salvage, overhaul, and property conservation methods. The program concludes with modules on firefighter rehabilitation and wildland firefighting fundamentals, ensuring readiness for incident operations.

FSC-1927 - Fire Fighter 1 Certification Skill Testing (NFPA 1010-2024)

Minimum Age: 18 years of age (Exemption for Fire Fighter 1 Academy students who will use this as their course final exam)

Prerequisites:
* Current CPR Card
* Current First Aid Card (or higher level of Emergency Medical Training)
* ICS-100: Introduction to the Incident Command System
* IS-700: An Introduction to the National Incident Management System
* Hazardous Materials Operational Core Competencies, Personal Protective Equipment Mission Specific Competencies, and Product Control Mission Specific Competencies in accordance with NFPA 470, through IFSAC or ProBoard.
* Hazardous Materials / WMD Awareness Level Professional Certification (IFSAC and/or ProBoard)
* Essentials of Firefighting (EBM) or Interior Firefighting (ELIF) or EL-26: Firefighter 1 (ELFF1) or Bucks Basic Fire Academy (BBFA)

Required Equipment:
* Approved, fitted, and maintained Turn out Gear with Helmet, Eye Protection, and Gloves.
* Approved, tested, and maintained SCBA and Mask with spare cylinder

Course Description:
This program is designed to evaluate the students' psychomotor skills that meet the minimum job performance requirements and will follow guidelines set forth in accordance with the policies and procedures of Bucks County Community College's Accreditation. Testing is based on current NFPA 1010 Standard, to the Fire Fighter 1 level through the ProBoard. (NOTE: The written examination is a separate FSC number to be completed.)

FSC-1926 - Fire Fighter 1 Certification Written Examination (NFPA 1010-2024)
