* Fire Company Officer 1 (NFPA 1021) Professional Certification

Required Text:
* Fire and Emergency Services Safety Officer, Second Edition, International Fire Service Training Association; Oklahoma.

Required Equipment:
* Computer with audio/video capability and internet access

Course Description: The Safety Officer's responsibilities fall into two clear cut categories: those associated with responding at the incident 
scene, and those associated with managing the day-to-day affairs of the department. The Incident Safety Officer (ISO) course is focused on the incident and the role the Safety Officer plays as part of the Command Staff. The target audience is Company Officers (CO) and Lead Firefighters who are experienced in firefighter safety issues and are familiar with an Incident Command System, hazardous materials management, suppression strategies and tactics, and technical rescue related emergency operations. The program provides the student with the decision-making process and skills required to recognize unsafe acts and conditions and take appropriate corrective actions. This course is tested to NFPA 1521 Standard, to the Fire Department Safety Officer - Incident Safety Officer Level through the ProBoard. Successful completion of the program requires proficiency demonstration in written practical skills and a multiple-choice examination.

Proboard Testing is on 5/24/27 at 1800

* All Professional Certification Written Examinations must be proctored at an approved location with an approved proctor. Approved locations outside of Pennsylvania are limited and may require additional fees.
