Prerequisites: Age 18 and up or 17 with Act 155, Exterior Firefighter (ELEF), or
Bucks Basic Academy, or Firefighter I, and Hazardous Materials Operations
Text Book: IFSTA Essentials of Firefighting 7th Edition
Description: This entry level course is designed to introduce new firefighters to interior fire ground operations including Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA), Search and Rescue Procedures, Firefighter Survival, Ventilation, Utility and Loss Control, Origin and Cause, and Fire Control (Suppression). This is the fourth of five levels (courses) in the curriculum.
LESTA is hosting the Essentials of Firefighting Modules through Bucks County Community College. Please note Essentials is only open to Lehigh County First Responders. Out of County Responders are NOT permitted to register for these modules. Please see the below schedule as well as attached flyers for each module. Registration is REQUIRED through PA Train. Chief Officer Authorization Submissions must be submitted for each module & hazmat class. The Hazmat Classes will be combined with the fall Fire 1 class as well as CPR.
