Training Opportunity: Lehigh County Mass Fatality Management Overview/Tour (January 2026)

The Allentown Health Bureau (AHB) and Lehigh County Coroner's Office are collaborating to offer training on the local mass fatality management plan. 

Goal: The goal is of this training to increase your awareness and prepare you for the consequences of mass fatality incidents including the impacts on public health, preventing secondary public health consequences, respecting legal requirements, supporting the mental and behavioral health of the community and responders, and understanding the importance of the Incident Command System (ICS) for effective coordination and communication.   

Target Audience: This is an important training for public health and emergency management staff, volunteers and community partners. Mass fatalilty management is a capability within both public health and the emergency managment response plans.  A mass fatality incident may be the result of a natural, accidental or intentional event, and is not defined solely by the number of fatalities. This training lays the foundation preparing you to respond to disasters and emergencies that result in the loss of human life.  

Training Components

  • overview of mass fatality incidents and Lehigh County's Mass Fatality Plan, and
  • tour of the Coroner’s Office and Forensics Center. 

Dates/Times: The same training is being offered twice (one in the morning and one in the evening).

  • Wednesday, January 21, 2026 (9:00 AM - 12:00 PM) or 
  • Wednesday, January 28, 2026 (6:00 PM - 9:00 PM)
