There will be 2 sessions to this class. You only need to attend one.

This course will be presented in a PowerPoint format and is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of lithium-ion battery fires. Throughout the session, participants will explore key issues, tactical considerations, and safety concerns, as well as the proper steps for fire extinguishment in a classroom environment.
The presentation will run approximately four hours and will include scheduled breaks. The course can be offered in a morning and afternoon session to allow students to attend at 2 different times.

This course provides essential techniques for identifying electric vehicles (EVs), understanding their construction, and distinguishing between fully electric and hybrid models. It also covers key considerations for extrication and fire suppression when working with various types of EVs. Students will learn about the behavior of lithium-ion battery fires in e-bikes, scooters, energy storage systems (ESS), and other lithium-powered devices involved in structure fires. By the end of the presentation, participants will have a stronger ability to identify and accurately investigate incidents involving lithium-ion batteries and apply safe, effective methods for extinguishing these fires.
