A substantial portion of the population carries a history of direct or indirect trauma—events and
circumstances that leave lasting marks on physical, emotional, and cognitive functioning. Trauma
fundamentally alters how individuals perceive risk, process authority, and navigate crises,
frequently manifesting as heightened emotional reactivity, hypervigilance, and deep-seated
mistrust toward emergency responders and public health officials.

This course expands on the knowledge, skills and abilities presented in the Basic Fire Police curriculum and provides fire police officers with more advanced training for leadership positions within fire police organizations. This course provides instructional review of the laws pertaining to fire police powers and the expected duties of a fire police officer to include health and safety and legal aspects of performance. Fire Police Officers will also be taught how to deal with people, how to manage incident response and leadership qualities.
